Friday 13th June - walk ***** – Nacton Shores near Ipswich – sunny, hot with light winds.

Friday is Maeva day so Mag went to pick her up at 10.30 and as they are having a new bathroom fitted her mum Jay came back to ours :) I had enough time to do my exercises in a sunny and already hot back garden before our company arrived. Maeva quickly asked for a snack, crackers and a dairylea triangle while I made a picnic lunch for four! It was very hot in our back garden so around midday we drove over to Nacton Shores hoping there would be a nice cooling breeze blowing off the River Orwell and we were not disappointed! We got the last parking space and walked down to the river with the tide nearly high, turning left we found a lovely spot under a shady tree with great views over to Pin Mill to enjoy our picnic, just brilliant. Then it was time to throw stones in, Maeva’s favourite, I was soon paddling as the water was like a bath but Maeva was a little nervous of getting her feet in! Jay was busy looking for fossil's as we waited for Maeva’s Dad to arrive on his lunchbreak as he works just down the road! When Dan arrived Maeva changed completely and was keen to run into the river while holding my hand, just brilliant! It was the perfect place to while away a few hours enjoying the best of what Suffolk has to offer before we all walked back to the van, Dan returning sadly to work while we headed to Felixstowe with Maeva quickly falling asleep!

PS - first first lightning appeared at 11 so I walked down to the end of the road in my slippers to watch but it was still a long way off so returned home to get a jumper and umbrella and returned as the sky started to light up, sadly mainly sheet lightning with only a few forks but then the torrential rain arrived and I got soaked walking home. Mag and I then watched the storm pass over, amazing really with over 30.000 lightning strikes! I did get a few OK pics by leaving the shutter open on my camera and hoping for the best! I then posted a few on Facebook and sent them to the TV weather and was lucky enough to get one on BBC Breakfast this morning but didnt get to bed until 2.30!
